There is no hard deadline, but here are some strong recommendations of when you should take the test.
All students should take the MPT at least 3 weeks before they intend to enroll into Math 1, 3A, 31A or 31AL. This is to account for any technical difficulties that students may run into during the process of registering for the test and retaking the test (if necessary).
After the test is complete, it can take 1-3 days for the enrollment system to pick up your score.

What if my new student orientation takes place before my AP Calculus AB/BC results are published?
You will have to take the Math Placement Test to see if you should be placed into Math 1, 3A, 31AL, or 31A. Your New Student Advisor cannot enroll you into courses based on assumptions or predictions. They can only enroll you into courses based on the credits that are transferred in. If there is no AP exam credits transferred to UCLA by the time of your orientation, you will not be enrolled into any math course during orientation, and you will have to wait until mid-September to enroll yourself into a course.
