Here is a suggested list of courses to take each year. Your schedule might deviate a bit depending on how ahead or behind you are on completing your coursework. The Suggested Academic Schedule below does not show when courses are offered. For that information, see When are courses offered? and check course prerequisites to make sure you're taking courses in the right order.
Can I meet an advisor to review my schedule?
Fill out your schedule on the Degree Plan Contract first, starting with the CURRENT TERM. The only courses that need to be specified are the core courses. All electives should be "[SUBJECT] UD" since those courses are subject to change each quarter depending on course availability and student interest.
Example: Mathematics/Economics has 12 core courses: Math 115A, 131A, 131B, 164, 170E, 170S, 134-135 or 171, Math 174E, Econ 101, Econ 102, Econ 103, Econ 103L. The two Econ Electives should just be listed "ECON UD."
Once your schedule is created, you can email it to ugrad@math.ucla.edu for review.
Do you have an example of a Degree Plan Contract?
Mathematics of Computation has 5 core courses: Math 115A, 131A, 131B or 132, 151A, and 151B. 6 Math Electives should be listed "MATH UD," and 3 Com Sci Electives should be listed "CS UD." See sample below.
